Elect Her—Campus Women Win

AAUW Charlottesville UVA wins a competitive Elect Her Grant

In 2012, we will be joining a group of women from universities across the nation, including Stanford University, George Washington University, Howard University, and Duke University in order to train more women to run for student government positions.

The goal of this grant is to close the long-standing political leadership gender gap by empowering and training women to run for office at all levels.

Our specific goals at AAUW Charlottesville-UVA are:

Goal 1: To support the civic and political leadership potential for college age women at the University of Virginia and surrounding campus communities.

Goal 2: To increase the visibility advocacy role of AAUW at the University of Virginia and surrounding campus communities.

Goal 3: To mobilize the organizations and departments at the University of Virginia and surrounding campus communities through civic engagement and the contribution of women as political leaders.
